Gateway manufactures laptop and desktop computers, as well as the products and accessories that go with them. Gateway is most recognizable from the cow-print boxes its products come in. Gateway laptops utilize laptop batteries for power when the laptop is not plugged into an electric outlet. You can perform a simple test on the
gateway laptop battery to get an estimate of the amount of time the battery will power the laptop before it needs to be recharged.
Turn the laptop off by pressing the power button. Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet. Place the other end of the AC adapter into the adapter outlet on the side of your Gateway laptop.
Allow the AC adapter to fully charge the
Gateway Laptop Battery. Leave the laptop powered off for eight hours.
Remove the AC adapter. Turn the Gateway laptop on by pressing the power button. The laptop will utilize the battery to power the laptop.
Time how long it takes the
Gateway Laptop Battery to die, from start to finish. To get a more accurate time assessment, run or perform the programs and tasks you normally would. Each program or task uses a different amount of battery life, so using those programs to run down the battery will give you a more accurate time estimation. Once the laptop dies or shuts off, the battery is dead and should be recharged.
